Proud to Present: an elegant, understated brand identity for botanical beauty and fragrance brand, Bare & Bloom

Born in those distant pandemic days when we all craved things that bought us a sense of connection, White Cauldron Co was founded upon a desire to create all-natural botanical self care products that support mind, body and spirit - while respecting the earth and harnessing the deep power of mother nature.

Having always loved self-healing using essential oils and herbs, Daniela studied Aromatherapy and Herbal Skincare, finding immense reward in the process of preparing homemade scrubs, ointments and balms crafted to help with sleep, ease anxiety or soothe skin. Daniela found that selecting the right essential oils or herbs felt like second nature… and that pouring that first candle and formulating that first soap felt like coming home to herself.

Symbolising both the alchemy of essential elements coming together to create something more potent, and the purity of using ingredients derived from the earth, Bare & Bloom creates luxury, small-batch botanical beauty products and candles, gently infused with pure aromatherapy oils carefully chosen to nurture the body and mind.

These are the scents of nature – they share the same origin as us, taking us back to our roots. Bare & Bloom products cocoon us in the innately nurturing properties of essential oils, reminding us–oh so subtly–that we too are of the earth.

Daniela & Johann are just the loveliest couple. They approached us for help with the brand identity for their relatively young business, then named White Cauldron Co. Frustrated that their brand identity wasn’t quite hitting the mark, they were looking for help to create something that’d help them stand out in an incredibly busy marketplace. They absolutely recognised the need for clarity around their brand message, and were painfully aware that clarity was something they lacked! And yet, as with so many things in business, clarity is one of those things that tends to remain elusive to the business owner - it’s only with an objective view that you can sniff it out.

Our process is very much designed to drill down and discover what makes a brand uniquely special. Sometimes it’s something groundbreaking; other times, it’s far more subtle. For this lovely business, the magic lies in Daniela’s unique blends. It’s her creativity, intuition and desire to create a certain experience that leads her to design each blend - underlined with an unshakable devotion to purity and celebrating the power of plants. So much so, that even some of her most basic butters have spent months being infused with nettle or clover, lending to the natural properties of the product, and the good that it will do. Given the alchemy that goes into each product, White Cauldron Co was certainly not a bad name for the brand… but these guys wanted something more distinctive, that’d better reflect what they want to be known for moving forwards.

I cannot thank you enough for the amazing job you did with our brand. The more I look at it, the more I get the feeling of deja-vu and I know that this was how it’s meant to be. You managed to bring out the character of our brand, and I truly hope this will make it easier for me to voice my words and help me be more authentic...thank you
— Daniela Barbara Simler, Bare & Bloom

When we look to create a name for a brand, we begin with the essence of a business. What does it stand for? How do we want to be perceived? What kind of feel would we like to create? I knew that I wanted a name which hinted at the very fundamental element of nature, but without binding Daniela to a certain kind of product. She currently produces a gorgeous range of candles, soaps, face oils, body butters and more - so the brand is neither a candle brand nor a beauty brand, but something that bridges both, with a commitment to high quality botanicals being the thread which draws it all together. We all loved Bare & Bloom - ‘bare’ hints at stripped back simplicity, ‘bloom’ makes us think of something naturally blossoming, and the alliteration lends to it being memorable. Better still, it was a thoroughly unique concept in a busy market!

The visual identity is just dreamy. A palette of elegant yet earthy tones sets the expectation for a brand which is natural yet refined, while the aesthetic is simple, refined and flows beautifully. Everything is perfectly balanced and proportional, the botanical illustrations are flawlessly executed and perfectly symmetrical, providing a nod to the meticulous nature of the blends and commitment to the highest quality. The brand might be artisan in nature, but it was crucial for it not to feel homemade - we wanted something far more elevated than that. Typography is modern, distinctive and heaped with character, while imagery embodies warm tones and a sense of natural elegance.

I’m excited to see where this fresh new brand identity (and invigorated business owner!) go next.
