Introducing someone rather special
I’d like to introduce you to someone rather special! Mine and Dan’s baby girl, Evie Grace Belton, was born on the 18th January 2019, weighing a very healthy 8lb 3oz. She’s such a happy little baby - calm, contented and really quite chilled out. So much more like her dad than me…! Mind you, she’s inherited my stubborn streak. Despite being due on the 4th January, she absolutely refused to be coaxed out (I’ve never been on so many long walks or eaten so many curries in all my life) and all attempts to encourage her into the world were met with a resolute resolve that she Just Wasn’t Ready. She finally arrived earthside two weeks late and my goodness - it was the most positive, empowering and powerful experiences of my life.
Even before Evie was born, I’d planned that I’d return to work quite quickly. My work is a massive part of my life and who I am - I love my job and couldn’t imagine being away from it for long. I’d no intention of disappearing for several months. We’re all incredibly fortunate that with our business set up in the way that it is, we’ve been able to bring Evie in to the studio, and that’s precisely what’s happened! Evie comes in every day and has already amassed a growing fan club - everyone adores her! She’s slotted in beautifully with studio life. It means that Dan and I can spend equal time with her whilst still working, which is a real privilege. And of course Evie’s grandpa has wholeheartedly embraced his new role. He can make her laugh like no one else can…
It’s felt odd not sharing such massive news with you all sooner. Truthfully, it’s something I was really conflicted about, mainly because I’d seen other women suffer due to an assumption that they’d be less capable following the birth of their baby. I actually couldn’t have been more wrong; our clients have been so wonderfully supportive and very generous with sharing advice and experiences.
I’m sure I’ll share more about my new life as a working mama - on instagram, probably - but for now I hope you’ll enjoy these gorgeous photos that our wonderful friend Catherine Hill took of Evie, Dan and I in the woods here at North Frith Farm last weekend. If you’re considering a family photography session, book Catherine. She’s amazing.
